Social life = Greeklife. Fraternities and Sororities are well known for their wild parties and constantly drinking ! its sometimes used to even haze new students. Although most of the times it catches the eyes of most students interested in pledging. This article explains a little about the social life of a fraternity based on a Harvard University study.

This next article, is more like an interview. The reporter interviewed a woman who pledged in 1963. The author however explains, what the woman is saying. & she explains the difference in pledging now than back down. And the dramatic decrease in students wanting to pledge because of all the incidents and deaths that have occurred through out the years.

Most students are a little frightened with the fact that they have to go through a certain process to "earn their letters", but fraternities and sororities aren't all bad. All though some may fit the stereo type, they definitely have the choice to carry themselves appropriately. This article explains in depth, what type of events they participate in. Their philanthropies, community service projects, and awareness shows that they invent or become a part off. http://www.123helpme.com/view.asp?id=59511
This article I found, briefly explains the "Hazing" students go through when committed to joining a fraternity or sorority. The author informs us, that since 2000 over 60 deaths have been associated with Fraternity's  because of their out of control hazing. http://www.123helpme.com/greek-organizations-view.asp?id=156460

One of the negatives about joining a fraternity or sorority is the process that most go through to become part of the Greek life. Some sororities and fraternities have anti- hazing rules because of the controversy it has caused through the years. However many modern Greeks don't believe in "Paper" which in the Greek life community means they just signed a few papers and don't go through the hazing process. To many that's an insult because they didn't "Earn their Letters" therefore they should not have the right to represent the fraternity or sorority.
This article I found explains a little about 2 cases that were brought about to inform the public of some of the things these pledges go through
